August 31

Herrera is honored to have your child this year. The year is off to a good start and some very exciting lessons are going on in your child’s classroom. I’d like to take this time to thank you for supporting our campus goals and being an active participant in your child’s learning. At the same time, I’d like to update you on a few items.

According to bond committee personal the school improvements afforded by the bond are continuing to move through the proper stages. The current target date for construction to begin is late fall or spring semester. 47 additional security cameras have been installed and are now working to monitor our campus. This year white and Blue collared shirts will be permitted in addition to currently established Herrera dress code. The PTA free-dress Thursday’s will begin on September 2nd. Students may give their homeroom teacher $1 allowing them to be out of dress code for the day. The attire of choice for free-dress Thursday’s must be school appropriate outfits.

We ask that you continue to check our website, marquee, monthly calendars, and Wednesday folders for special announcements. Remember to review your child’s agenda daily to stay informed of class assignments, homework, and notes from the teacher. Teacher email addresses can be found on our website (www.hattech.net) to use for any questions or communication. Lastly, we hope to see you at our upcoming Open Houses which are schedule for September 15th (Pre-K – 2nd) and 16th (3rd – 5th) from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

Thank you for your continued support!

Meet and Greet

It was wonderful seeing everything today at the Meet and Greet Event. We are all looking forward to Monday and starting a fantastic school year!

Few Reminders:

* School building opens with supervision at 7:15am.

* There will be back to school pictures taken for parents wishing to take advantage...this is a campus based fundraiser to bring money for positive incentives for our students. Pictures will be $2 in the gym from 7:30-8:00. The line will be cut to ensure the photos are completed by 8:00 each day, if the line happens to be too long on the first day, we will continue for the next couple days until everyone has the opportunity to purchase a picture.

* School begins at 7:45, and students are tardy at 7:55
* Dismissal procedures will be the same as last year...no changes...If you don't remember the process please contact the office prior to dismissal...713-696-2800

-Please be patient the first few days during dismissal time. Even though the process will be the same, there will be some re-directing, learning, etc...taking place which could possibly slow the process down. Everyone will be working to help the first few days run smoothly as possible!

Again, it was great seeing everyone and we are all looking forward to Monday. Have a great weekend and get ready students!
