First thank you for reading and enter acting with this blog so we can have another line of communication with the Herrera parents and students.
Believe me that none of us were happy with the dismissal today and I kept the staff afterwork for hours to figure out how to effectively get the communication out so we do NOT have this situation again. The whole purpose is to look out for the safest dismissal possible every child and I believe that everyone understands that.
Today there were many "factors" that played against the entire process and I personally apologize for the unnecessary and inconveniences that today's confusion caused for many. Hopefully there is more understanding of what we are trying to accomplish and everyone will know where to go tomorrow afternoon to pick up their child.
We are planning to address each family in the morning as students are dropped off to identify and explain where to pick up their child in the afternoon. We are hoping to have each child walk into the building with a color coded paper that will explain to the teacher the parent's wish for his dismissal location. Hopefully that will help everyone and take care of what happened today. Besides the bus riders, there are only two choices with this plan:
choice 1 - "walker or other" (def. students will be walking home or meeting parents somewhere outside the building)
Pick-up location: All these students will be exiting at the Park side exit near the play-ground.
Choice 2 - "Car Riders" (def. students will be picked up by parent in vehicle on the cafeteria drive way.
Pick-up location: Students will be dismisses through cafeteria as vehicles approach doors
Thanks again for using this blog and believe that we want the best and safest situation for all students! Be sure to get the communication from either myself or a staff member in the morning so that we know how your child is going home, and the teacher knows exactly where to take him/her in the afternoon to meet you. We will get things running smoothly and safely!
Thanks, Mr. C
