Neighborhood Watch

Parents and Friends-

This weekend Herrera portables were broken into. At this time we do not know if anything was stolen. A young man was detained for the break-in and I will be pursuing criminal charges.

This is disappointing since we've not had this problem for almost a year now. I am asking that you help us prevent other break-ins or vandalism by contacting the HISD police if you notice something suspicious after school hours. During the day please contact the office and I will address it, but when we are not there - it is very helpful if you will contact the police to check supicious things out.

At the beginning of the year a parent called the police on a couple young men trying to start a fire. I am very thankful to them so we didn't have a building fire!

The HISD police number is (713) 892-7777. Please put this in your cell phone contacts just so you have it if needed.

Thanks for your support and help!
Mr. C

  1. That is very sad to hear that someone would destroy school property. Are you considering putting cameras? I hope this doesn't happen again, but we all have to keep an eye out for our school's and kids' sake.-DGI

  2. I really enjoyed the Hispanic heritage program. I think Ms. Rivas did a fantastic job too. My students loved the program as well, and on that date, they even drew you Mr. Carnes and Ms. Elizondo dancing the Sombrero dance. The students were very impressed with your performance. I need to show you some of their journals entries on that date.

  3. Yes - We all need to work together!!! Thanks for your support. The people that broke in did manage to take about $3000 of materials. :(

Thankfully we are in the process to get additional cameras through the HISD bond that was passed in 2007. Hopefully that will happen soon.

Cameras will help some, but we still need the support of the community to keep all eyes open especially when all of us have left the campus!

  4. That is funny Mrs. Zepeda - I'm glad my embarrassment paid off and the kids enjoyed it.

    Thanks for your positive comments!!
